Douglas Stockdale lives in southern California, USA where he is a Senior Editor & Founder of PhotoBook Journal, the contemporary photobook magazine. He is a visual artist, science-geek and a Critical Mass 2023 Finalist. His work speaks broadly about issues of memory, the passing of time, society, mental health and the environment. He has been published or self-published seven books and featured in numerous others, and his artwork is in the permanent collections of Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (Italy), San Telmo Museo (Spain), Reminders Photobook Library (Tokyo), Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (Yale University), Frick Fine Arts Library (University of Pittsburgh), and Malcolm A. Love Library, Special Collections (San Diego State University). He has been featured in numerous articles in conjunction with his solo and group exhibitions and a photographic curator for various organisations. He uses a variety of mediums depending on his artistic concept, including expired 120 film, digital photography, alternative photography (primarily cyanotype), and will incorporate the use of multi-media to further develop his visual narratives. Stockdale is on the adjunct faculty of the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP), Medium Photo (San Diego) and Southeast Center for Photography (SEC4P). Stockdale received a BS in Industrial Design form Michigan State University and an MBA from University of La Verne.
