Gloria Oyarzabal (b.1971) | based in Madrid, Spain | artist photographer | graduate of the Universidad Complutense Madrid (BA) and the BlankPaper School of Photography (MA) | programmer and co-founder of independent cinema La Enana Marrón (Madrid, 1999-09) dedicated to author, experimental and alternative cinema | lived 3 years in Bamako (Mali) researching on the construction of the Idea of Africa, imaginaries and stereotypes, processes of colonisation/decolonisation, new tactics of colonising through the mind and African Feminisms | participated in the artist residence Ranchito Matadero Nigeria/South Africa (2017) | her work has been shown internationally | her book Woman Go No’Gree (Barcelona: Editorial RM and Vevey: Images Vevey, 2020) has been recognised as the PhotoBook of the Year in the 2020 Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards | also won the Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award (2017), PHOTO IS:RAEL’s Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography and Fotofestiwal Łódź Grand Prix (both in 2019), amongst others.
